An Icelandic woman just over 70 died yesterday at Iceland’s National University Hospital in Reykjavík after contracting COVID-19. The woman, who had been chronically ill, is the first Icelandic resident to die as a result of COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, the woman’s son urged Icelanders to abide by authorities’ regulations to slow the spread of the virus . May her soul be at peace.

Two more people have died of COVID-19 in Iceland, bringing the total number of deaths from the novel coronavirus to four in the country. This was announced at yesterday’s press conference. They both died at Landspítali National University Hospital.
